Seasonal poultry

Broilers & Thanksgiving turkeys

We raise a limited number of birds each year. Our broilers are purchased as day-old chicks from a local Ohio hatchery and raised in seasonal batches.

We use non-GMO, non-medicated feed and move birds through brooder housing before they go outside to fresh grass when weather and feathering are ready.

How we raise broilers

Practical details from the farm

These notes are adapted from our broiler posts on the current site and help customers understand what goes into each seasonal batch.

Early brooder care

Broilers start in personally built brooders with room, clean living conditions, ventilation, water access, and supplemental light. They stay inside until fully feathered, off heat, and nighttime temperatures are consistently warm enough.

Non-GMO feed

We feed broilers 20% non-GMO, non-medicated feed from Berry Family Farm in Pleasantville, Ohio, from day one until processing around 8-9 weeks.

Fresh grass and bugs

Once outside, broilers have access to grass and bugs during the day and are moved in the chicken tractor to fresh ground.

Because poultry is raised in batches, the interest form is the best way to hear about dates, pricing, pickup details, and holiday turkey availability.
